Dealerships generally charge higher labor rates and use Original Equipment Manufacturer OEM-only parts, which push a brake job 30 to 50 percent above what an independent repair shop would charge. Independent repair shops can often use the same quality components at a lower total cost. Or they can use aftermarket brake parts tailored to the customer's driving needs and outperform OEM parts. Either way, what matters most is correct installation, quality parts, and a clear breakdown of the work performed.
