This week, we had a 2007 Mazda 3 with an oil leak that needed to be diagnosed and repaired.

We found the engine's rear crankshaft seal was leaking. Replacement of the seal required removal of the transmission, clutch assembly, and flywheel for access to the seal.

After removing the transmission, it was determined that the clutch was worn and near the end of its life. Replacing the clutch at this time would be a good value since 90% of the labor had already been done to access the crankshaft seal. The flywheel was resurfaced for smooth clutch engagement and to prevent clutch chatter.

After replacing the crankshaft seal, an oil & filter change service was performed.

After the repair was completed, the vehicle was test-driven to confirm that all repair work was working correctly.
