Why is my car's A/C not getting cold enough?

Your car's air conditioner may not be getting cold enough because the refrigerant level is low, airflow is restricted, or a system component is malfunctioning. A low refrigerant charge is common, but a leak usually causes it. Other possible causes include a clogged cabin air filter, a dirty condenser, a weak cooling fan, a failing compressor, a faulty expansion valve, a blend door problem, or an electrical issue. The A/C may feel cooler while driving but warmer at idle if the condenser is not getting enough airflow. Humidity and extreme outside heat can also make weak cooling more noticeable.
